Bruce Leads our Stepfamily Through his Deep Love for All of Us

Today is my husband’s birthday.  In my head, I truly think of him as the King of our Castle.  As much as I complain about the image of the stepmother in our fairy tales, I feel as if my life has been a fairy tale.  It has been a beautiful fairy tale because of my husband.

My husband, Bruce, is definitely our King.  He sets the tone of our family.  He stands for complete, unconditional love.  He has provided a foundation for all of us and is the source of our stepfamily deep love and devotion.  The miracle is that he leads through his silence.  He laughs a lot, but you won’t find him lecturing any of us or telling us what to do.  You certainly would not find him writing a blog!

In traditional fairy tales, you really don’t hear a great deal about the King.  He is in the background.  When I think about Bruce, we would all be lost without him.  We look to him for guidance and we don’t feel like a ‘broken’ or divorced family because he is such a whole person.  He does the right thing and we all know it.  He sets a kingly standard that we are all challenged to meet.

Bruce, our King, we love you dearly.  Hail to our King.

Happy Birthday!
